a What we do
On the first visit you will be given a full assessment of your injury or condition. This will generally take between 30-60 minutes. We will make a plan with you on how to manage your injury and what we can do to help you with this. Management may include: a home programme of exercises, manual therapy, myo fascial release therapy, massage or other modalities, strapping or a gym based programme. Sports and spinal injures: We will help you manage your sports of spinal injury and aim to keep you working, running, walking, cycling, gardening, playing sport, dance, move, swim..... Pilates Classes Currently we have a Monday Class at 4.15 at the Takaka Bowling Club rooms- suitable for beginners to intermediate levels. Based on the APPI method of Pilates which is particularly suitable for people dealing with injuries as well as general strengthening. the classes are ongoing, so you can start at any time. If you are new to Pilates book in for a (complimentary) 1:1 session to have the basics explained to you before you come to class. PINC and STEEL cancer rehabilitation: Individual and group rehabilitation for people with cancer. After surgery, during cancer treatment and in the months and years afterwards we can help you recover and get back to living your life. see www.pincandsteel.com for more information and how to apply for funding Group sessions on offer are: Fit Flamingoes: a group based exercise programme for women who have or have had cancer. the programme is suitable for all levels, so you can join whilst still having cancer treatment. In fact, it is now recommended that you exercise in this time. You will be supervised at all times and the programme is easy to adapt to various levels of fitness. Class times: Tuesdays 12.15-1.25 pm Circuit class Fridays 12-1 pm Steps Class- a mixture of aerobic exercise and Pilates/stretching Women's Health: advice and treatment for pregnant women and new mothers, bladder problems, prolapse, exercise and fitness for women of all ages. Treatment for women post breast cancer- shoulder exercises, fitness training, exercise advice. Complex Lymphoedema Therapy level 1 and 2 certified this treatment is available for anyone with lymphoedema, women and men. compression garments, massage, self massage, exercises Stay at work programs: ACC may refer you for a Stay At Work Programme if you need help returning to work after an injury. This service may include an assessment of your workplace, a gym or pool exercise programme, equipment to help you get back to work and physiotherapy treatment. Products: We have books, exercise equipment, braces and supports for hire or can order for you. Some equipment is available for loan as part of your treatment: wobble boards, weights, Physio Balls, McKenzie books, spikey balls, foam rollers. |
